O Programa Paraíba Unida Pela Paz (PPUP) constitui uma política estadual de segurança pública movida por uma gestão por resultados. A partir de um diagnóstico abrangente da segurança pública estadual considerou-se o estabelecimento de metas e objetivos baseados em estatísticas criminais como mote desta política. No decorrer dos anos, a gestão do PPUP, inicialmente baseada no monitoramento da incidência de CVLI, adicionou outros indicadores. Este trabalho parte do questionamento sobre a importância destes indicadores para aperfeiçoamento do sistema de segurança da Paraíba, logo constitui objetivo geral deste artigo se ater a verificação desta indicação, adotando um processo metodológico sedimentado numa revisão bibliográfica e na pesquisa documental sobre relatórios criminais e normas sobre o programa disponibilizados pela Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Estado da Paraíba. Os resultados obtidos reafirmam a importância do PPUP como política de gestão de segurança pública, que tem nos seus variados indicadores a projeção de medidas de prevenção e repressão às práticas delituosas, constituindo categorias quantitativas de apreciação do desempenho das forças de segurança e de retrato do cenário criminal estadual.

The implementation of the Paraíba Unida Pela Paz Award (PPUP) was based on the establishment of goals and objectives, preceded by a comprehensive diagnosis of state public safety, with an emphasis on statistics on Intentional Violent Lethal Crimes (CVLI). However, over the years, the PPUP management incorporated other performance indicators (along with CVLI) in order to improve strategies and actions to reduce crime rates. Therefore, the general objective of this study is to analyze the importance of PPUP performance indicators in the results-based management of public safety in the state of Paraíba. The methodological procedures used to prepare the study include a bibliographic review of works that discuss this topic, in addition to documentary research of data and information about the (PPUP) made available by the Public Safety Secretariat of the state of Paraíba. The results obtained reaffirm the importance of PPUP for the management of public safety in the state of Paraíba, directly contributing to the reduction of crime rates. Given the complexity involved in carrying out a panoramic analysis of the security scenario across the state, the incorporation of other performance indicators in addition to the CVLI has become a relevant strategy to support the management and implementation of actions to combat violence. The paper concludes by highlighting the role of indicators in analyzing the results obtained by the PPUP, in addition to assisting in the planning and implementation of new strategies.
