Abstract
Police work is characterized by risk situations, high emotional load, and constant exposure to violence. These factors make public security professionals particularly vulnerable to occupational stress, burnout syndrome, and other work-related mental disorders. When it comes to female police officers who are also mothers, the issue becomes even more evident, considering that, in a patriarchal society, women are still viewed as the primary individuals responsible for childcare and domestic duties, accumulating these responsibilities alongside an exhausting professional routine. As a result, these workers experience a double workload, intensifying their physical and emotional strain. In this regard, the present study aimed to investigate the factors that contribute to occupational stress among female military police officers in Paraíba and to analyze how these elements affect their psychological well-being, quality of life, and professional performance. Methodologically, it is characterized as a literature review of a qualitative nature, with a descriptive design, allowing the identification of relevant scientific studies on the topic and their contributions to promoting mental health among police personnel. The findings indicate that the implementation of mental health education contributes to reducing levels of occupational stress. Furthermore, it promotes coping strategies through awareness of self-care and the valuing of psychological support within police institutions. In addition, this initiative fosters healthier professional environments and reduces symptoms of burnout, absenteeism, and leave due to mental illness.
