O artigo investiga a preparação dos policiais do 12º Batalhão da Polícia Militar da Paraíba para lidar com indivíduos agressivos. A pesquisa avalia a autoeficácia dos policiais, enfatizando a importância da formação e do treinamento recebidos. Utilizando questionários autoavaliativos, análise curricular e revisão bibliográfica, o estudo adota uma abordagem mista, com foco quantitativo e qualitativo. Um questionário com 11 perguntas foi aplicado a 139 policiais de Rádio Patrulhamento. Os resultados revelam que a confiança dos policiais tende a diminuir com o tempo de serviço. Muitos relatam não ter participado de simulações realistas durante a formação e a maioria não pratica defesa pessoal fora do ambiente de trabalho. O estudo destaca as percepções dos policiais sobre sua preparação, revelando lacunas significativas na formação e treinamento. Na conclusão, os dados evidenciam a urgência de aprimorar a formação e o treinamento, visando um preparo mais robusto e contínuo, para que os policiais estejam aptos a enfrentar desafios de forma eficaz em suas ações.

The article investigates the preparation of police officers from the 12th Battalion of the Military Police of Paraíba to deal with aggressive individuals. The research evaluates the self-efficacy of the officers, highlighting the importance of the training they receive. Utilizing self assessment questionnaires, curricular analysis, and literature review, the study adopts a mixed approach, focusing on both quantitative and qualitative methods. A questionnaire with 11 questions was applied to 139 officers from the Radio Patrol division. The results reveal that officers' confidence tends to decrease with years of service. Many report not having participated in realistic simulations during their training, and most do not practice self-defense outside of the work environment. The study highlights officers' perceptions of their preparation, indicating significant gaps in training and formation. In conclusion, the data underscores the urgency of enhancing training and formation, aiming for a more robust and continuous approach, so that officers are adequately prepared to face challenges effectively in their actions.
