O número de pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) vem crescendo no Brasil e no mundo, levando o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) a incluir o questionamento acerca da existência de morador com autismo no domicílio, quando da realização do Censo de 2022. Diante desse cenário, ao se evidenciar a competência da Polícia Militar para garantir os direitos dos grupos vulneráveis, dentre eles, os indivíduos com TEA, o presente artigo, de viés exploratório, qualiquantitativo e documental, tem por objetivo analisar o nível de conhecimento dos Policiais Militares do 4º Batalhão de Polícia Militar da Paraíba no atendimento de ocorrências envolvendo pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista, contextualizando os índices crescentes de diagnósticos sobre o TEA e o aumento da probabilidade de ocorrências policiais envolvendo pessoas autistas, apresentando, em seguida, os procedimentos de outros órgãos públicos e polícias militares de diferentes unidades federativas, utilizados para o atendimento de ocorrências com indivíduos portadores de TEA, finalizando com a verificação das capacitações e procedimentos existentes que servem de diretrizes para a atuação dos Policiais Militares do 4º BPM-PB durante o atendimento de ocorrências policiais com a participação de pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista, mediante a discussão dos dados coletados com a aplicação de questionário aos policiais militares lotados no mencionado Batalhão.

The number of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has been growing worldwide and in Brazil, leading the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) to include a question about the existence of a resident with autism in the household when conducting the 2022 Census. Given this scenario, by evidencing the competence of the Military Police in guaranteeing the rights of vulnerable groups, including individuals with ASD, this exploratory, qualitative, quantitative and documentary article aims to analyze the level of knowledge of the Military Police officers of the 4th Military Police Battalion of Paraíba in responding to calls involving people with ASD, contextualizing the growing rates of diagnoses of ASD and the increased likelihood of police calls involving autistic people; presenting, subsequently, the procedures of other public agencies and military police forces from different federative units, implemented when responding to calls with individuals with ASD; concluding with the verification of existing specialized training and specific procedures which function as guidelines for the actions of Military Police officers of the 4th Military Police Battalion when responding to calls involving people with ASD, through the discussion of data collected via the application of a questionnaire to the officers assigned to the aforementioned Battalion.
