Abstract
This study aimed to comparatively analyze the initial body composition of two classes from the Soldier Training Course of the Military Police of Paraíba, utilizing the bioimpedance test applied during week zero of instructions. It sought to identify whether the interval between the Physical Fitness Test (TAF) and the start of the course influenced the candidates' body variables, considering differences specific to the pre-training period. The research was classified as applied, quantitative, descriptive, and documentary, involving 455 men and 88 women from Class 1, and 467 men and 98 women from Class 2. The data were extracted from official bioimpedance reports and subjected to tabular organization and statistical analysis. The results revealed that Class 2 presented higher values for body weight, fat mass, fat percentage, and visceral fat in both sexes, indicating a consistent pattern of increased body adiposity in the interval between the TAF and the beginning of the CFSD. It was also observed that the differences in muscle mass and BMI followed this trend, though to a lesser magnitude, reinforcing the hypothesis of changes resulting from periods of detraining and a reduction in the exercise routine after the selection phase. The findings demonstrate that the time between the phases of the civil service examination directly impacts the physical condition of future soldiers, influencing the initial state with which they enter training. It concludes that adjustments to the institutional calendar can contribute to greater homogeneity of the groups and better physical preparation of the new military personnel.
